Sales at stores open at least a year fell 1.6% vs. a year ago, says Ken Perkins, president of Retail Metrics.
This compares favorably with both February, when same-store sales fell 4.1%, and January's 5.6% drop.
Note that Easter came one week later this year than last year, meaning more Easter shopping was pushed from March to April.
More evidence of the consumer comeback.
